My little nature collector spiked a fever today, so unfortunately our adventures were called off. As a first time mom, I find it necessary for my own peace of mind to see a doctor, so that doctor can tell me all the things that I already knew or read on the internet. I am fortunate that my daughter's pediatrician is incredibly supportive, kind, and understanding. She even listened, patiently to my crazy worry that my daughter might have ingested something during our nature play time yesterday- perhaps a mycotoxin- and the fever is somehow related to this. She then calmly replied that is a very unlikely scenario and most likely my daughter just has a virus. Sigh, Google might actually prove to be the end of me someday.
Needless to say, this mamma is thoroughly worn out from a day filled with unnecessary anxiety and many hours of helping a toddler cope with all the awful that comes along with being sick.
For good measure, we did utilize the nature basket today, but full disclosure: almost every rule was broken in the process.
